Nacht im Babylon

For this year’s film music programme Night at Babylon at the Staatstheater Kassel, we were commissioned to create three arrangements of music from the hit TV series Babylon Berlin. The programme will be performed 19 times in the 2023/24 season. Tickets are available via the link on the right.

The Berlin of the “golden” 1920s, full of joie de vivre, vice and excess, is the main setting for this year’s film concert. With UFA, the metropolis on the Spree (Berlin) was one of the most important film factories in the world and the city’s major film palaces were an irresistible magnet for audiences. On the threshold between silent and sound film, cinemas and theatres such as the Titania, the Xenon and – to this day – the Babylon am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz attracted visitors with stories of big dreams, visions of the future and horror tales.
