A battered war veteran is beaten up at work for no reason. Shortly before the trial, a judge in Augsburg takes the liberty of looking at the whole thing. The course of events seems to be clear. He confidently seeks advice and goes through the case. But: the whole thing becomes a matter for the boss. Uniformed officers tell him who must not have done it. It’s always someone else. It gets worse with every piece of advice. The climax is the war that finally haunts him on his desk. Suddenly it is there, with all the victims it mercilessly demands. It dawns on the judge: his own life is at stake and they have probably already taken his family from him.
