Niklas

Niklas is a composer, arranger and orchestrator living in Cologne. In addition to his focus on orchestral film music, he has also dedicated himself to vocal and chamber music in recent years. His work is strongly influenced by collaborations with fellow artists, media creators, and musicians.

In 2020 Niklas graduated with distinction from the Master of Composition in Composition for Screen programme at the Royal College of Music London. He received several awards, including the John Barry Scholarship for Film Composition and a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service. Prior to this, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Composition for Film and Media at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and a one-year programme with majors in piano and choral conducting at the Berufsfachschule für Musik Dinkelsbühl. His mentors include Vasco Hexel, Simon Holt, Dimitri Scarlato, Enrica Sciandrone, Gerd Baumann and Hansjörg Kohli.

During his studies he had the opportunity to record music with the Staatskapelle Halle, the Munich Symphony Orchestra and the RCM Symphony Orchestra. Recent commissions include works for the Bavarian State Youth Choir and the Audi Youth Choir Academy. In 2023 he won the European Recording Orchestra’s composition competition (Call for Scores).
